Class Descriptions
  • Chair Fit - Chair Fit is a low impact cardio and strength class in which participants use a chair for balance and assistance. This class provides just enough support and simplicity to be the perfect exercise prescription for seniors, those who may be returning to exercise after an injury, or adults looking for a change from a more sedentary lifestyle.
  • FallProof Training - This workship will help seniors improve balance and mobility , as well as help increase strength and flexibility. As people age, the two elements that decrease the fastest are balane and flexibility. Lack of these elements can lead to falls and injuries. Lack of strength can make daily living tasks difficult. Work with a certified FalProof® instructor to improve strength, balance and mobility so you can move with confidence and ease.
  • For all fitness levels.
  • Senior F.I.T. -Senior F.I.T. will introduce participants to the benefits of functional circuit training. Participants will focus on balance, core strength and overall conditioning. Each week, intervals of work and rest will change in order to maximize variety and deliver cardiovascular benefits. A variety of equipment will be introduced, including medicine balls, TRX, bosus, steps, physio balls and more. Experience how functional training can dramatically improve your overall level of fitness, and increase your strength and resistance to injury. Not designed for beginners or frail seniors.
  • Senior TRX and Core Training - Especially designed for active older adults, this program will focus on full-body strength with a particular emphasis on core training. Participants will use the TRX® for basic strength exercises, while also incorporating a variety of dynamic and static stretching techniques to increase range of motion and mobility. Core training is a key to decreasing back pain and increasing balance as we age, and the TRX® is uniquely suited to maximize core awareness and strength. Maximum 10 participants; not designed for beginners or frail seniors.
  • Strength and Balance - This workshop is designed to improve balance, make strength gains and sharpen cognitive skills for older, active adults. Through a comprehensive exercise program, driven by the power of group experience (often working in teams), participants will address - the functional ability to maintain static and dynamic balance; building "mental muscle" through brain games integrated into physical movement; developing strength gains and flexibility as a platform for greater stability, movement and balance in everyday living. Integrated into the training will be tai chi, circuits, obstacle courses, possible walking outside (or around the outer gym space), ball games -- no day is ever the same! All fitness levels welcome. Exercises done with or near a chair for support as needed.
